“The renewed cycle of oppression of Palestinians made me resort to the folklore and sounds that address our history” (Zaid Hilal Mirath:music – Goethe-Institute) From Beit Sahour, Zaid Hilal trained with the Edward Said Music Conservatoire in Bethlehem and has a BA in Arabic singing. “I have recorded 17 original songs in collaboration with local and international artists, addressing social issues alongside folk music. In 2022, I launched my album Folklore Promise, blending field research and the revival of disappearing Palestinian folk songs, which have been rearranged with a contemporary twist to engage younger audiences in the Palestinian struggle and heritage.”
