Jewsharp Workshop: Szabolcs Gimesi
Jewsharp / Mouth Harp Workshop: Szabolcs Gimesi
In this workshop, you can learn about the mouth harp which is considered to be one of the oldest musical instruments known all over the world.
The mouth harp is an instrument of meditation and introspection. In the play-along ‘timbre’, we also bring in folk and trance elements.
We invite all who are interested, beginners and others already familiar with, and play our instrument.
For our play-along session, in order to create ear and brain harmony, bring D-tuned mouth harps if you can. (We also have limited number of those, as we can lend to participants.)
We’d love to see you there!
Szabolcs Gimesi was born on 19th of June 1976 in Székesfehérvár (Hungary). Since 28 years by now he is playing the jewsharp as a solo artist but also in various bands: including LEONARDO JAM, since 2007 he is a member of the band GRABANC and now AIRTIST as well. Besides his work as a musician and in Budapest’s well-known café “Macska” he is giving workshops on a regular basis in a wide range of festivals, as the OZORA festival for instance, and organizes jam sessions in a jewsharp club. His instrument allows him unprecedented opportunities in playing together with other musicians, it’s extremely multifaceted in its sound and he appreciates to touch his audience through his music.
